Storage Basics & Getting Started

Storage First is a secure, locally family owned storage facility in Watrous, Saskatchewan. We offer clean, well‑maintained storage units in multiple sizes, plus custom storage containers for farms, contractors, businesses and residential use.

We operate two gated locations in Watrous:  
Gate A – 303 Midway Street 
Gate B – 405 Midway Street  

Both sites offer secure access and convenient drive‑up units.

You can access your storage unit 24/7 using your personal gate remote.

We operate by appointment to keep overhead low and pass savings on to customers. Call or text anytime and we’ll respond promptly.

Yes — our team regularly checks both sites.

We offer five unit sizes, suitable for everything from seasonal items to full household storage. 

Here’s a quick guide:  
– 5×10 – Boxes, bikes, small furniture  
– 10×10 – 1–2 bedroom apartment  
– 10×15 – Small home or large equipment  
– 10×20 – Full household or vehicle  
– Custom containers – Farms, contractors, commercial and residential storage where you want it. 


If you’re unsure, we’re happy to help you choose.

That is your choice, but securing insurance is strongly recommended. Check first with your current home or business insurance provider, it is not a guarantee that you will have off site coverage.

Absolutely. In the event of an emergency that may jeopardize or impact the contents of your stored goods, we want to be able to promptly notify so that you will be aware of the circumstances. Our policy is to contact our clients directly, if we can not reach you and need immediate action, we will contact your alternate person. In such circumstances we will contact your alternate contact and request that they have you contact us. Please make sure that your alternate contact is someone that you trust.

At this time, we offer standard outdoor drive‑up units.

Your items, your schedule. Keep your plans flexible, our units come with anytime, all-the time 24 hour access.

Yes — rentals are billed monthly, with no long‑term commitment required. You are required to sign a contract.

If you need to switch units, we will do our best to accommodate your request. If we are not able to help you today, we will notify you as soon as your requested unit size becomes available. We many not have the capacity to hold it for long, so your response in a timely fashion will be important.

Yes. We highly encourage you to get organized with any sort of free standing storage system.

Members are not permitted to make any physical alterations to the walls, ceiling or floors that may cause damage to the storage unit.

Please refer to your signed contract for full details.

For added security and personal control, we ask that you bring your own lock. If you happen to forget your lock, hold on to your socks, we got you covered.

No worries, just give us a call and we’ll arrange to have the lock cut off for you. You will need to provide a replacement lock at your own expense.

– Decide how long or how often you will need to access the products in storage. At some point you will either want to distribute the items from your personal collection or need to access them from a business perspective. Think of how you want to group things and label storage bins accordingly. A small bit of time spent doing this now will save you from being frustrated later.

Use vertical storage when possible. Best done by using similar sized stackable plastic totes. See our tote storage plans below.
